You’ve probably heard of the Roadburn Festival, right? No? Well, Roadburn is a world-famous festival for underground music, where pioneers, rising stars, and established artists share the stage. It’s not about one specific genre — but if we had to sum it up, Roadburn is all about heavy music.
Metal Factory has been working closely with Roadburn for several years now. Students get to work behind the scenes at the festival, and Metal Factory bands even perform there. Pretty cool, right? But what really makes this collaboration extra special is that Roadburn sees it as more than just an “internship” — it’s part of your education.
As festival director Walter puts it:
“Young people are the future — and in our underground scene, a new generation needs to rise up. Roadburn feels responsible for encouraging that fresh energy and new talent.”
And get this: Walter Hoeijmakers, was completely blown away by a this years performing act from Metal Factory and Music Production Lab called Haatdrager. This band mixes sludge metal with atmospheric, psychedelic synth parts, clean guitar lines, raw industrial hip-hop, and electronics.
Walter says in this interview:
“Musically, artistically, and creatively, this is on a whole other level — absolutely amazing!”
